How much does it cost to live and study in Rome?

Edoardo, 2nd year student, says:

For a single room near the University, prices usually range from 350 to 650 euros monthly. It depends on several factors, including the location of the apartment, its dimensions, facilities such as air conditioning, private toilet and so on. On top of this, you pay additional 20-40 euros/monthly for electricity, gas and water. If you get outside the city center (40-50 minutes away), you may get an entire flat for the same price.

University fees are as high as 2700 euros/yearly or as low as 400 euros/yearly, depending on your parents' income.

At the supermarket, you may find these prices:

- 1Kg of pasta: 1 euro
- 1Kg of oranges: 1.50 euros
- 4 eggs: 1.50 euros
- 1 liter of milk: 1 euro
- 1Kg of bread: 4 euros
- 1.5 liter bottle of water: 0.30 euros
- 1Kg of beef: 10-20 euros.

For transportations, you pay 250 euros for an annual membership, which includes buses, trams and underground.

The sports facilities of the Universities cost as little as 100 euros/yearly, with all included.
